The mining software which were previously discussed before our discussion. (i.e. Ethminer, XMR-Stak, CCMiner etc.) are not optimized enough with respect to the mining hardware installed inside the computer or a rig. There are different cryptocurrency mining hardware available based on contrasting architectures and specifications. But these softwares are not optimized with respect to every single type of mining hardware that currently exist which may produce lower hash rates that could leads towards low profitability or reward.
The aim of optimizing the cryptocurrency mining software is to enhance the hash rates by utilizing full specifications of an installed mining hardware through optimizing the default mining source code to increase the rate of profitability or reward.
Introduction to DTS Crypto-currency Optimized Mining Process
By considering the mentioned problem, Prof. Dr. Hiro Takahashi and its advanced block chain lab engineer team have been researching and developing optimized cryptocurrency mining code from January, 2018. The optimization of mining code has been performed for CPU and both architectures of GPU (i.e. NVidia and AMD) for the purpose of increasing mining hash rates of multiple cryptocurrencies. The DTS crypto-currency optimized mining is based on following mentioned optimization processes:
Optimization through mining source-code parameters.
Optimization using L3 cache. (Only for CPUs)
Optimization through overclocking the mining hardware. (Only for GPUs)
Mining hardware’s driver based optimization. (Only for GPUs)
Mining hardware’s BIOS level optimization. (Only for AMD GPUs)
Here, the details of above mentioned optimization processes has been discussed. This chapter also studies the methodologies of optimizing the crypto-currency mining process based on multiple CPU and GPU supported crypto-currencies and algorithms. This study is based on the optimization of two different mining hardware, one is “CPU” based optimization and other is “GPU” based optimization of both supported architectures (i.e. NVidia and AMD GPUs). The process of crypto-currency optimization includes the mining software’s source code modification, mining hardware’s BIOS modification and modifying some other configuration parameters.
